Roast of Shame (“we”, “our”, “the app”) is a comedy roast chat app published by Shame Logic LLC. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Introduction

We respect your privacy. Roast of Shame generates humorous roast messages, optionally speaks them aloud for Pro subscribers, and may use the microphone when you choose Argue mode tap-to-talk. We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information we collect

• Chat and roast content: Messages you send, Argue transcripts, and generated roast replies may be sent to our API and to OpenAI to produce responses and (for Pro) speech audio. Conversation history may be stored on your device and briefly on our servers to keep the chat coherent.
• Display name / phonetic: If you enter a name (and optional pronunciation), it is stored locally and may be included in roast requests so replies can address you.
• Microphone (optional): Only when you start mic capture in Argue mode. Audio is processed for speech-to-text and is not kept as a permanent voice archive after transcription.
• Voice and share clips (Pro): Roast text may be sent to a text-to-speech service. Share/export may create a short clip on-device or via our export helpers. We do not sell clip media.
• Subscription status: Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store and RevenueCat. We receive subscription status and an anonymous identifier — not your payment card or Apple ID password.
• VIP codes: Redeemed invite codes may be logged for abuse prevention. They unlock Pro features on your device.
• App preferences: Voice pack, intensity, notification toggles, and similar settings are stored locally on your device.

3. How we use your information

• Generate roast replies and optional voice playback
• Power Argue mode transcription and timed sessions
• Personalize roasts with your display name when provided
• Enforce Pro features through RevenueCat / VIP unlocks
• Operate, secure, and improve the app and API

4. Third-party services

• OpenAI — roast generation, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech
• RevenueCat — subscription status (Privacy)
• Apple App Store — payment processing
• Fly.io — API and app hosting
• Mixpanel (if enabled) — anonymized product analytics; roast text is not sent as analytics content

We do not use advertising trackers. We do not collect precise GPS location. The app is maps-free by design.

5. Data storage and security

Preferences and much of the chat memory stay on your device. Generation requests are processed on servers (typically in the United States) over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Data retention and deletion

Local data can be removed by deleting the app. To request deletion of server-side data associated with your use, contact us at the email below.

7. Children's privacy

Roast of Shame is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your rights

You can deny microphone access in iOS Settings. You can cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription management. You can skip or clear your display name in the app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
